Hi, I’m Arvind and I need a kidney transplant
I have a deep love for life, cherishing every moment despite the many challenges I’ve overcome to get here. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, I have been fortunate to share 43 wonderful years with my wife, who has stood by me through thick and thin. Now, I am facing a new challenge as my kidneys are failing, and I am in urgent need of a transplant. With your help, I hope to extend my time with my beloved family and watch my grandchildren grow into fine young people.
My life has provided me with varied experiences and opportunities to learn. I embrace change and enjoy the novelty of trying new things. I love meeting and interacting with people, and especially enjoy traveling with my family. This has become a hard choice for me now because of my health situation, and I very much want to be able to resume my normal life with a feeling of well-being. I would also very much like to go back to do all the other things I have enjoyed but do not have the energy for at this time - gardening, hiking, tinkering with technology and gadgets, and above all, enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and flying kites with my grandchildren.
A couple of years ago, I had to take retirement from a career that I loved and was passionate about because of my progressing Chronic Kidney Disease, which left me fatigued for the better part of each day. For the last 25 years of my working life, I worked in technology and pharmaceutical recruiting. It gave me great joy and satisfaction each time I was able to place a person in a job based on their stories and needs, especially during difficult times in our economy. I would love to pick up where I left off. This was a career that I embraced after I graduated from The American University, Washington DC., in the middle of my long working life. For the first 20 years, I followed in the footsteps of my father, a World War II veteran, and served as a military officer.
Please consider donating one of your kidneys to me. Your generous donation would be life saving for me. If donating is not possible, I would deeply appreciate your help in spreading the word about my urgent need to your friends, family, and others who might be able to help. I would be forever grateful for this gift of life!
Why I need a kidney
I have been living with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) for several years, and despite receiving proper healthcare and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, my kidney function has gradually declined to a critical point where I now require either dialysis or a transplant. I recently began peritoneal dialysis, a physically and emotionally exhausting process that involves being connected to a dialysis machine throughout the night to perform the essential functions my kidneys can no longer handle. The daily routine is time-consuming and taxing, requiring hours of being tethered to the machine, which restricts my mobility and freedom. This discomfort and the side effects often leave me feeling drained and in pain, making it hard to enjoy even simple moments. It’s a constant battle against fatigue, pain, and the limitations that dialysis imposes on my life. Despite these hardships, I remain hopeful for a new kidney that could free me from this suffering and allow me to regain a sense of normalcy and vitality. I deeply wish I could spend this valuable time with my family and friends instead.
A kidney transplant offers a life-saving alternative that would allow me to lead a more normal life. However, I must wait for a kidney to become available for the transplant to take place. Sadly, the wait time for a kidney from a deceased donor can be as long as seven years, and during this wait, many people lose their lives before a suitable organ becomes available. I am afraid that waiting that long is not an option for me. A transplant from a living donor can drastically shorten this wait time and give me a new lease on life. Moreover, live donations generally result in better survival rates and improved quality of life.
If you are able to generously donate one of your kidneys to me, all your costs would be covered by my insurance. My hospital also offers additional support through the Donor Shield Program. You wouldn’t need to be a perfect match, as there are various options available for kidney exchanges.
Please consider my urgent need and take the time to learn more about kidney donation. I truly hope you can help me with this enormous request!
